The Rotary Club of North Rockland will host a dinner dance for developmentally delayed residents of group homes in the North Rockland area on Saturday, May 20th, 2023 from 5pm to 8pm at the West Haverstraw Community Center. The evening will feature a DJ playing dance music, and a dinner served by Rotarian volunteers.    Admission is by invitation only ;invitations have been sent to group homes in the area.

Club President Carol Hoerter explained that “Rotary exists to serve the community, and we do many projects throughout the year. But this year, we wanted to find an innovative new project as part of the Day of Service sponsored by Rotary clubs throughout the Northeast and in Bermuda. We realized that the developmentally delayed people who live in group homes are often forgotten by the larger community. We thought that these folks, like everyone else, would enjoy a break from their normal routine and a chance to do something just for fun.  We are really looking forward to providing a special evening for them.”
Club President-Elect Joseph Truhon, who is leading the committee of Rotarians planning and staffing the event stated that “The response from the group homes has been great—it looks like we will have a full house and we hope that this event will be a special night out for every guest!”
