Friends and neighbors from the North Rockland community gathered on October 13,2022 at the 6th annual Taste of North Rockland to enjoy an evening of fine dining, beverages and music while helping those in need. This event, sponsored jointly by the Rotary Club of North Rockland and the North Rockland Lions Club was an overwhelming success. About 200 people turned out for the event despite the inclement weather of the day. It raised enough to enable donations of $3500 to support the hunger fighting work of People to People, $3500 to support  Rockland Recovery Homes  in providing safe housing for those recovering from drug abuse, and additional funds to support the ongoing charitable work of the Lions and Rotary.
People from the North Rockland community enjoyed the chance to join old friends and renew acquaintances in a convivial atmosphere, with lots of table-hopping and mingling. Participants enjoyed a bountiful buffet of food and drink generously donated by twenty one of our area's finest restaurants, with a variety of cuisine representing the diverse heritage of our area. You could not leave the event hungry! One attendee remarked that he could not buy the dinner he had at the event for twice the price of admission. Rotarian and Lion Doreen Makara led the committee of volunteers from both clubs to make the event possible. Many thanks to Doreen and to all of the others who joined in this effort. We also thank those local businesses who helped by advertising in our event journal, by sponsoring advertising banners and by publicizing the event. Special thanks to the Village of West Haverstraw for use of the event venue.
